FAQ

Frequently asked questions

When do I need CN22 and when CN23?

CN22 is for shipments up to €300 AND up to 2 kg. CN23 is required if the shipment exceeds €300 OR 2 kg — one condition is enough. For documents a form is not formally required, but it is always recommended to include one.

Where do I get CN22/CN23 forms?

Courier carriers (DHL, DPD, Eurosender) generate forms automatically when you book. At your local post office you can pick up a paper form at the counter. This tool helps you fill in the contents — the final form is confirmed by your carrier.

What is an HS code and where do I find it?

An HS code (Harmonized System) is a 6-digit number that identifies the type of goods for customs purposes. It is mandatory for CN23. You can find it in the TARIC database at ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/ — just search by product name.

Must I fill in the form in English?

The description of contents must be understandable to a customs officer in the destination country — in English or the local language. A description in Czech or Slovak alone is not sufficient for shipments to Japan or the USA. It is always recommended to include an English description alongside your native language.

What happens if I do not fill in the form or fill it in incorrectly?

The shipment will be held at customs. The recipient will receive a notice to provide missing information or pay duty/VAT before release. If the information is deliberately false (e.g. undervaluation) fines and confiscation of contents may apply.
