For shipments from Europe to the USA, the US de minimis rule (Section 321, duty-free up to USD 800) has been suspended since 29 August 2025, so practically every parcel is dutiable regardless of value. US states may additionally collect sales tax (0–10%). Reverse direction (imports from US to EU): EU rules apply — VAT from €0, a flat €3 duty per item on consignments up to €150 (since 1 July 2026) and normal duty rates above €150. Direct shipping is expensive (5 kg from USA to EU costs €45–95) and many US stores do not ship internationally.
