Customs
Singapore is outside the EU, but has a very liberal customs regime. Customs duty applies only on dutiable goods (alcohol, tobacco, motor vehicles, petroleum products) — the vast majority of common goods (electronics, clothing, toys) are duty-free. GST (Goods and Services Tax) of 9% applies from the first euro for shipments from GST-registered overseas sellers (in effect since 2023). Singapore has excellent customs infrastructure — DHL, FedEx, and UPS have their own customs depots and shipments clear quickly. All shipments must carry a CN22/CN23 with a declared value.
Required documents
- CN22 is a simplified customs declaration for parcels up to 2 kg and €270 in value. Completed at the post office or generated by the carrier. Without CN22, the parcel may be held at customs.
- Commercial invoice

Frequently asked questions
Can I send chewing gum or e-cigarettes to Singapore?
No. Singapore has prohibited the import of chewing gum since 1992 and e-cigarettes since 2010 — both are strictly banned and subject to fines. For other ordinary goods, Singapore is one of the easiest Asian destinations: excellent customs infrastructure, fast clearance, no duty on electronics or clothing.
