Shipito Review and Pricing 2026: Plans, Fees and Who It Does Not Suit
A fair Shipito review with fees verified on 9 October 2026. Free account versus Premium, processing and consolidation fees, a worked example and the cases where Shipito is not worth it.
Plenty of people who shop in the US use Shipito, and most reviews either praise it or complain about the fees. Both have a point. The service works. Its price list is simply chopped into so many lines that the final bill is hard to estimate in advance. So this Shipito review starts with the pricing and ends with who should not bother.
What Shipito is and how it works
Shipito is a package forwarding service that gives you a US delivery address and ships what arrives there abroad. You buy from an American online store, the goods reach Shipito’s warehouse, you pick a carrier in your account and the shipment leaves for Europe.
Shipito has US warehouses in California (Torrance) and Oregon (Tualatin), and offers further addresses in Austria and Japan. Registration is free. The step-by-step process is in the guide to buying from the USA with Shipito. This page is about the money.
Shipito plans: Free account and Premium
Shipito has two plans: a Free account with no monthly fee, and Premium membership at $10 per month or $60 per year. According to Shipito, membership is only charged from the first shipped package or assisted purchase. The plans differ in the warehouse address, the level of fees and the length of free storage.
| Item | Free account | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Membership price | $0 | $10 per month / $60 per year |
| Default warehouse | California (sales tax applies) | Oregon (no sales tax) |
| Processing of a received package | $3.25 | $2.25 |
| Consolidation (per package) | $5.50 | $3.25 |
| Free storage | 7 days | 45 days |
| Customs declaration | $7 | $5 |
| Express processing | $8.75 | $5.50 |
| Additional photos | $8 | $5 |
| Extra packing material | $5 | $2 |
| Assisted purchase | $8.50 + 4.3% + 8% of the price (same on both plans) | |
| Special requests | $15 for each half hour of work | |
| Shipment insurance | from $3, depending on value | |
The prices come from the price list on shipito.com, verified on 9 October 2026. The list does not state the daily storage rate once the free period runs out; you only see it in your account. Annual Premium is also required for the Rewards loyalty programme, with tiers from Standard to Diamond, where the top tier adds 5% off shipping.
What you really pay: a three-package example
Shipito’s fees are only the smaller part of the final price; the main items are international shipping and import VAT. Take three packages from different stores that you have combined into one shipment.
- Free account: processing 3 × 3.25 + consolidation 3 × 5.50 = $26.25
- Premium: processing 3 × 2.25 + consolidation 3 × 3.25 = $16.50, plus $10 for a month of membership
On fees alone, then, Premium comes out almost level and you might conclude it is pointless. But sales tax decides it. In California it starts at 7.25% and is higher in many cities, so on a $300 purchase that is at least $21.75 you would not pay in Oregon. The membership FAQ also mentions five free consolidations a month, each of up to five packages. Which plan that applies to is not clear from the FAQ, and the perk is missing from the price list, so check it in your own account.
Then comes the Atlantic crossing. According to our overview of shipping costs from the USA to Europe, a 0.5 kg packet starts at about $10 by postal service and a 5 kg parcel by courier costs $70–95. And finally there is import VAT at your country’s rate (17–27% across the EU) on the price of the goods including shipping, plus any customs duty, as set out in the guide to customs and VAT from the USA to Europe.
Consolidation: the biggest saving and the most common trap
Consolidation combines several packages into one box and is the main reason Shipito pays off. Shipping one 3 kg shipment costs far less than shipping three 1 kg ones. Shipito advertises savings of up to 80%. That is a marketing ceiling, and the real figure depends on how much air was in the original boxes (with shoes and electronics, a lot).
The trap is time, and nearly everyone falls into it the first time. A Free account has 7 days of free storage, and the clock runs for each package separately from the day it is received. If one store dispatches at once and another takes two weeks, you either pay storage or send the first package alone. Anyone buying from several stores is better off with Premium for that one month at least, purely for the 45 days.
What we like about Shipito and what we do not
Shipito has a readable price list for its basic fees, a warehouse with no sales tax and its own assisted purchase service. The weaker side is how quickly the small individual fees add up.
- For: registration is free and carries no commitment. Membership is only charged from the first shipment.
- For: the Oregon warehouse. On pricier electronics the sales tax saved is more than a year of membership costs.
- For: 1 to 3 exterior photos of each received package are included.
- Against: the processing fee is charged on every received package, on the Free account too. Only the address is “free”.
- Against: 7 days of storage is too short for consolidation.
- Against: assisted purchase is expensive. On a $200 item the add-ons come to $33.10.
- Against: a package with more than five items is billed as a special request, by the half hour ($15).
Who Shipito is not worth it for
Shipito is not worth it if you are buying a single cheap item, goods readily available in the EU or bulky things. The reasons are pure arithmetic, nothing ideological.
- One cheap item. On goods worth $20 to $30, processing, shipping and VAT double the price.
- Goods that Amazon’s European sites or a local shop already stock. Once VAT and shipping are added, the difference mostly disappears and you lose the warranty.
- Big, light boxes. Air freight is billed by volume.
- Things you might return. The trip back to the US costs about as much as the trip over.
- Batteries, aerosols, perfume. Dangerous goods are restricted and not every carrier takes them.
What does work out well: goods not sold in Europe, US editions, spare parts and purchases from several stores at once. Ideas for stores other than Amazon are in the guide to buying from US stores beyond Amazon.
Shipito or a competitor
The main alternative to Shipito is Planet Express, which works on the same principle and differs in its fee structure and warehouses. Our Shipito vs Planet Express comparison goes through them line by line, and the guide Shipito vs MyUS vs Planet Express vs Stackry puts four services side by side. If you are not sure you need a forwarding service at all, try the advisor, which suggests a shipping method from a few questions.
And to be straight about it: this site is a Shipito affiliate and earns a commission on orders placed through our link. The figures in this review come from the public price list, though. Do the sums yourself.

Shipito is a US package forwarding service with two plans: a Free account and Premium membership at $10 per month or $60 per year. The Free account has an address at the California warehouse (sales tax applies), processing of a received package for $3.25, consolidation for $5.50 per package and 7 days of free storage. Premium has an address in Oregon with no sales tax, processing for $2.25, consolidation for $3.25 per package and 45 days of free storage. International shipping, import VAT at the destination country’s rate (17–27% in the EU) and any customs duty always come on top of the fees. Shipito pays off for goods not sold in the EU and when several purchases are combined into one shipment; it does not pay off for a single cheap item or for bulky goods.
